PICO: The smallest projector we have ever seen!

Passport to smart storage

Of all the myriad external hard drives out there, we're particularly impressed with Western Digital's My Passport range -- not least because they are so compact they fit perfectly in your pocket. The Essential model is a USB drive and comes in a range of colours primarily for PC use and offers capacities of 640/500/320/250GB; the SE comes in any colour as long as it's black and offers 1TB and 750GB, while there's also a matching Passport for Mac. In fact Mac users do rather well as there's also a silver Studio model with firewire 400/800 and capacities of 500/400/320GB.

Amazing Apple iPad: 'it just works'

The wait is over, the iPad has landed. Apple's tablet looks much as expected, a big, 0.5in thin iTouch with a 9.7 touch screen that weights just 1.5lbs. It comes in 16 ($499), 32 ($599) and 64GB ($699) Flash storage versions with wireless and Bluetooth. 3G will be available in later versions for $130 more. Apple says they should ship world-wide in April with international 3G deals available in June/July. Highlights of the new iPad are iBooks, Apple's new online bookstore and an impressive special iPad version of iWork. Most iPhone apps also work and of course iTunes and iPhoto are fully supported.
